"I have nothing to wear!"

This is a common statement even I have while getting ready for an event or a normal day out. I know how hard it can be when finding the right clothes for a photoshoot might cause stress because you want to look just right! No worries - lets talk a little bit about the do's don't and the most have's when picking out your outfits and what to bring.

Color Schemes & Patterns

Color schemes are very important. Let't think 10 years from now and what do you want to do with these photos? Are they going to go up on a wall? Decorating your home with them? Share with family and friends? Or are you using them to keep somewhere safe? Whichever it may be, we want to stick to colors that are timeless and that wont go out of style so you can use for multipurpose. Examples such as; Christmas cards, birthday celebrations, decorating your home and more.

Great color schemes that would never go out of style are: black, brown, whites, beige, and anything with jeans for a more casual look. Pops of color are always great too when we are going for a specific theme. Be careful with patterns and logos when picking out clothing, sometimes things like that tend to make your photos look outdated.

What Do I Bring?

I always say; the more the better! I love taking advantage of time so bringing a causal outfit, a formal outfit and a fun outfit is always key.

Casual outfits can be used for a simple family photoshoot, nothing too serious and just candid photos where I let clients have fun and just laugh. This usually helps clients get more comfortable with being in front of my camera. Formal outfits can be suggested for those who want to have something for the holidays, baby showers, headshots, and anniversary memories. Fun outfits can be anything you always wished to be photographed in, this could be use for fashion/beauty shots.

Tote bag essentials; hair ties, clips, deodorant, wipes, slippers, Advil, lotion, skin tone undergarment for dresses, light color shirts or gowns or maternity implied nude photographs. For your partner, I always recommend choosing clothing that matches the style of your outfits. T- shirts or dress shirts will work always.

For a more formal look, opt for a button down shirt, sweater (depending on the season), pants and dress shoes.

Client Closet & Fabrics

During a photoshoot with us you are always provided with all our options from our client closet such as gowns, simple dresses, t-shirts and along with the clothing you are already bringing along. No matter the genre of session; maternity, motherhood, family or beauty I love having the options for all.

Fabric draping helps create the illusion of a dress and with all of our fabrics one size fits all! This type of technique I came up with when a clients dress didn't come on time for her session and we had to create something on the spot! Now it has become a staple in my creative process.

Accessories

Jewelry can make or break your outfits and that is why I always advice in bringing your everyday earrings, neckless and bracelets just in case! For anyone who ever forgets to bring any pieces on the day of the session we always provide clip on earrings, a few head pieces and bracelets.
