Taking My Pictures Makes Me Nervous...

When the first thing you think about when getting your picture taking is "I'm nervous" or "I just don't like how I look" or "I'm not photogenic" and I can completely understand why some may think this way.

Posing plays a big role when getting your photograph taken and I am definitely not a person that picks up my camera and just says "okay smile." Of course there are ways of directing a person and making sure they feel comfortable while taking their photograph. To me, it is so important to get to know a person before getting them into the studio and in front of my camera.

It's about studying body language and actually listening. What do you feel most comfortable wearing? What makes you feel beautiful? How do you like your hair? How would you describe your style? What do you love most about yourself? ...the list goes on.

Although, it is important for me to know what don't you feel confident about. I often don't like to focus on the negative because once you focus on the negative the confidence level goes down.

"Mirror Mirror"

Providing a space that is safe filled with encouragement, silliness, and laugher is something I like to focus on. I tend to set the tone clear before we get into the studio to remind you that I am apart of your cheer team and that I will make jokes. Maybe not good ones but I will! Reminding you that it is okay to feel sexy, confident or gorgeous.

It's okay to do something for yourself out of the ordinary too.

I remember stopping in between taking a photo to remind my clients that it's just us in the room. That all they had to do was mirror me and follow what I was doing. Yes, of course we cracked up laughing because they had never done anything like this before and to them they felt silly. They were up for the challenge and a couple of looks at the back of the camera screen definitely reassured them.

I always make sure that before I take a photo I'm going to go in between takes to fix your hair, tilt your head a little, fix your clothing and pay real close attention to facial expressions because I want you to look your absolute best. The direction in which I show you to stand, or where to place your hands are very important key components into getting the right shot (lighting too but thats a different story). Sometimes we have to fix it a couple of times but hey thats okay! This is why connection is so important, and I want you to feel as comfortable as possible when I'm guiding you through posing.

Confidence Is Key

My goal after each session with me is that my client leaves out the door confident and excited!

I want them to feel more empowered as ever and to always remember that they too can be seen in photographs.
